Wandhala Drone Project

Overview

The Wandhala Drone Project supports First Nations communities in using drone technology to create training, employment, and economic opportunities in regional Queensland. I was commissioned by Southern Queensland Landscapes to make individual participant films, travelling across the south-west, from Toowoomba and Cherbourg through to Goondiwindi and Charleville, and filming each person in their own context.

The films were shot on a mobile phone. A phone in the hand keeps the process unobtrusive and lets the participants stay relaxed, which matters more on a project like this than camera resolution does. The films became Southern Queensland Landscapes' strongest social media engagement to date.
