Wandhala Drone Project.
Shot on a mobile phone
Overview
The Wandhala Drone Project supports First Nations communities in using drone technology to create training, employment, and economic opportunities in regional Queensland. I was commissioned to make individual participant films, travelling across the south-west — from Toowoomba and Cherbourg through to Goondiwindi and Charleville — and filming each person in their own context.
The films were shot on mobile. A phone in the hand keeps the process unobtrusive and lets the participants stay relaxed, which matters more on a project like this than camera resolution does. The films became Southern Queensland Landscapes' strongest social engagement to date.
"This feels like being an assistant to a senior photographer. Perfect."
"One of the best hours I've ever spent on YouTube."
"It's one of the best documentaries about photographers on YouTube."
